Introducing a Cool Format Change to Mobility and Corrective Exercise


Happy New Year!

I'm pleased to announce that there will be some programming changes to the Mobility and Corrective Exercise Class on Saturday mornings.

We will be doing a "focused training" for the month so that you can 

  • Do a daily practice on your own 
  • Get a review with the pro in following weeks so you can adjust, or progress your exercises 
  • Have a clear and measurable way to assess your outcome (which could be reduced pain, improved range of motion, better performance, etc) Improve your mind body (kinesthetic) awareness 
  • Reduce stress (learning to focus, breath diaphragmatically and spending time on each drill releases more than just tension in the muscles). 
  •  Spend more time with me! 

After a general understanding of how the mobility and corrective exercises are to be performed in week one, you can implement and practice them at home with minimal equipment. Utilize the concept of compound interest. How far will small repeated daily efforts take you in 2017?

My goal will be to also film the exercises and make them available for review to class participants on a private YouTube link.  With daily (yes, daily) practice of only 20 minutes you will begin to see and feel improvements.  AND the added benefit of a coaching/peer review per week allows us to regress or progress the movements as needed.

With a 4 week cycle of implementing this specific WOD you'll be able to measure your own: 

  • Athletic performance changes 
    • Reduction of back, shoulder, hip and knee, ankle pain, etc. 

Personal records (PR's) may not be everyone’s goal but I am willing to bet that resolving chronic aches and pains and improving motor control and joint function are things that keep you able to come back to the gym and continue training. 


Mobility and Corrective Exercise done regularly will transcend your performance in the gym AND your activities of daily living. And with the CrossFit Open around the corner, this class is designed to enhance your strength and conditioning program and life in general.

The format will be very simple (think, so simple, it's profound): 

  1. Three Mobility Drills 
  2. Three Corrective Exercises for the Joint Area 

So, with all that said, I'm pleased to announce that the Mobility and Corrective Exercise focus of the month of January is the Shoulder.

We'll call it #Shoulderary 

You should come. Bring your friends (the class is OPEN to the general public as a drop-in, and free for CrossFit 5885 members).
