It amazes me at the amount of pain people live with day in and day out without hope of things changing for the better.
When clients comes to my studio I like to ask "What would you like do if you knew you wouldn't be in pain?"
The answers almost always revolve around the simple everyday joys life.
- drive for longer distances
- play with my grandkids
- stand without worrying my back will seize up
- clean the house without suffering
- tie my shoelaces without throwing out my back
- enjoy intimate relations with my partner again
- run, walk, (name your sport) without re-injuring myself
These are just a handful of examples, and if you are in pain, I'm sure you can identify.
The ONE thing that sets my clients APART from the millions of people struggling with the chronic pain cycle is that they each reached a "breaking point:. Enough is enough. Something had to give. At some point each one decided that what they were doing to overcome pain simply wasn't working, and something had to change or be different. (Remember the definition of Insanity? Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results!)
Therein lies the beauty of corrective exercise programming. It allows people who are in chronic musculoskeletal pain not only the HOPE that they can enjoy a pain free life and living once again, but when put into practice, they actually achieve it!
When clients arrive at my studio, they are good and ready to take a RISK on a simple yet profound postural therapy program. They are ready to
- stop PROCRASTINATING
- make the CHANGEs necessary to stop the insanity of the chronic pain cycle and
- ACT on a new paradigm of health care
Remember, Pain is a Signal!
It's the only way our body has to communicate with us that something is wrong.
We offer a DIFFERENT approach to the problem.
We believe that the body has an innate ability to heal itself if given half a chance. But that means that we LISTEN to the pain, LOOK at the body as a UNIT, and acknowledge that you the client need the correct motion(s) combined with a whole mind, body, spirit focused attention and care.
"Success requires risk.
It demands that we step out of our comfort zones and move into unknown territory. We all know that, but doing it is another thing.
There are lots of people walking around talking about their dreams, but many are completely immobilized.
The thought of taking action to manifest the dream is so frightening that they do nothing."
