As we head into the end of 2013 and the start of a new year, I'm just 3 short weeks know away from re-launching my website and business model here at Pain Free Posture MN.
It's been a long time in the making, catalyzed by a very rewarding and yet challenging year. I'm thankful to report that the year was filled with amazing highlights. We had and continue to have clients accomplishing personal and life long goals, students who earned their Posture Alignment Specialist Certifications and myself earning two new professional certifications.
And there were some excessive lows that I've never had to professionally deal with before. So low and deep enough, that I actually questioned whether or not I wanted to continue my business. In fact, a couple of months ago, I was ready to quit, completely stop teaching and close my studio. Thankfully I was able to work through the difficulties and frustrations realizing that seasons come to an end, and it was time to grow and change, not give in.
The reason was simple. I'm really good at what I do. I have a proved track record of helping people get out of chronic muscle and joint pain, improve their posture and enhance their ability to perform activities of daily living and athletic performance. But I couldn't continue with the same model. It was taking up too much time, too much emotion and not producing the kind of results I envisioned.
Ultimately I had to choose to not be afraid to reorganize and in effect start over. I also realized I had to simplify and streamline my work practice.
My website for example, was one of those things that consumed probably 20+ hours of my attention each week for little to no return. Some of my goals were to have blog readers respond and interact, and build up a community of support for those who Certified with The Egoscue University.
I had to take a good hard look at those two objectives, and realized that after two years of planting, hundreds of hours working, neither was happening as I'd hoped.
So, I've decided to start afresh. My website is in the process of being reworked and simplified and I hope to have it live by December 30th, 2013.
Redoing a website is a thought provoking and time consuming task - and hopefully I can whittle things down to the basics. That means a lot of the content will be removed. I can't say it will be perfect, because I know I can't make all the people happy all the time, and websites are a constant evolution, but I will offer only the basic content.
I will keep my blog, and I'm hoping to add the ability to comment directly to posts via Facebook so they'll be in a thread format. I am eliminating many of the free downloads, and will replace them with more interactive content like YouTube videos which will be featured on my Tips & Tricks page.
I'm actually encouraged and excited for the first time in many months because I feel like a heavy burden has been lifted off my shoulders. It's taken a lot of soul searching, thought and hours of time to craft just right.
One thing that I'm still working on is my FAQs, Core Values and About Page. I have alread writen content about myself and my business and teaching philosophy, but then I stopped.
I had an idea.
Ultimately, my website is for my users, not for me!
Why not have you my blog subscribers (there's hundreds of you) respond to this blog, and ask me questions directly. I can answer and put some of the most frequent questions on the About us or FAQs page.
This way I can answer questions about Pain Free Posture MN that are relevant to what you need and want to know, not some lame questions that I think people want to hear about.
So, here's what I'm asking - very simply...
Any question that you want to know about us personally or professionally is game. Just post
them in the comments field of the blog and I'll take maybe 2-3 dozen or so and answer them and put them into the new site.
The questions can be serious, fun, tricky, insightful, or whatever else you come up with.
That kind of stuff.
What's even cooler is that when the new site is launched you'll be able to see if we answered
your question and you can get an opportunity to learn a little more about Pain Free Posture MN - in a much more intimate way than the usual B.S. you find on those about pages. LOL!
So that's it, just post your questions in the comment box below on this blog and I'll go through them over the next few days, answer them and add some to the new website.
Remember, we're in this together and I am here to help!
